We can arrange access to some of the best fishing beats on the River Taw which is generally accepted as The Sea Trout & Salmon river of the Southwest. Check out our fishing log when you visit - it'll be tucked away behind the bar.

Check out our fishing log on arrival - and make sure your catch is dually recorded before you leave! Rod prices per day are from £40 for non residents and £25 for residents.

Rod Length: Salmon 12ft-13ft. Sea Trout 10ft
Regulations: As per Environment Agency Rules
Wading: Chest waders advisable, thigh waders are necessary. Wading at own risk
Beats available 24hrs from 3am to 3am
Access: Day Tickets are available direct from hotel. Once allocated beat boundaries must be strictly observed.
Popular Salmon Flies: Stoats Tail, Silver Stoat, Ally Shrimp, Munroe, Garrydog, GP, Blue Charm
Popular Sea Trout Flies: Silver Stoat, Teal, Blue & Silver, Connamarra Black, Peter Ross
Fly Line: Sink tip advisable on higher water, otherwise floating line
Fishing Licences: Available from Post Offices - must be carried at all times
Best Times: Salmon - March to May, Aug-Sept; Trout - May-Aug
Size of Fish: Best Salmon in last 5 years = 23lb. Best Sea Trout in last 5 years = 11½lb
Spinning: Only currently allowed in March
Size of River: The Taw would be regarded as being a medium sized river
